4-H Higher Education Scholarships
The Alabama 4‑H Foundation is awarding thirty-five scholarships to high school seniors in 2024, each in the amount of $1,000! Scholarships can be used for post-secondary education for which 4‑H graduating seniors have been accepted or plan to pursue (i.e., college, university, community college, or trade school). The Barbara D. Thorne and Beth and Dr. Thomas Elliott 4‑H Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 will also be awarded!
Since its inception in 2020, over $147,500 has been awarded to 4‑H’ers across Alabama to help them achieve their career goals. Whether it’s a four-year college or university, community college, trade school or professional certificate, Alabama 4‑H and the 4‑H Foundation believe in the pursuit of individual happiness and success.
This year $38,000 in scholarship funding will be awarded to outstanding high school senior 4‑Hers state-wide:
35 – $1,000 Scholarships awarded by the Alabama 4‑H Foundation
1 – $1,500 Scholarship awarded by the Barbara D. Thorne 4‑H Endowment
1 – $1,500 Scholarship awarded by the Beth and Dr. Thomas Elliot 4‑H Endowment (Auburn University Student)
Application Requirements
Applicants must be high school graduating seniors. Complete applications must be submitted through 4HOnline and be received by March 1, 2024.
Applications must include the following:
- 4HOnline application
- Your 4-H Story
- Resume
- Letter of recommendation*
*A good letter of recommendation supports your achievements, skills, and service. Save letter of recommendation as a PDF, and upload into 4HOnline. Letter of recommendation should be from a non-family member. This could include a 4-H staff member, school administrator, teacher, or coach.
Application Review and Timeline
Applications for the 2024 4-H Higher Education Scholarships have currently closed. Please check back with us on January 1, 2025, for the 2025 4-H Higher Education Scholarship opportunities.
Scholarship Recipients
Students and parents/guardians will be invited to 4-H Competitive Events Day at the Alabama 4-H Center on June 21, 2024, to formally recognize scholarship winners. 4-H would also like to recognize 4-H Scholarship Recipients at their high school scholarship days.
Scholarship payments for tuition and fees will be made from the Alabama 4-H Foundation directly to the student’s post-secondary institution to be used in the 2024-2025 academic year.
Funding Opportunities:
Consider supporting our scholarship opportunities by participating in the annual Alabama 4-H Foundation Golf Classic. Each year the Alabama 4-H Foundation, along with corporate and individual partners, raise funds for 4-H’ers to help them with their educational opportunities after high school.
