Ways to Give
The Alabama 4-H Foundation is excited to proudly announce the launch of their new Planned Giving Society, The 1956 Society. The 1956 Society, named for the year in which the Foundation was founded, gratefully acknowledges benefactors whose estate gifts to Alabama 4-H show that the future of 4-H was close to their hearts. With a planned gift you will be welcomed into the 1956 Society.
Planned giving is simply a charitable gift that is a part of your overall financial or estate plan. There are a number of simple ways to make a planned gift. We encourage you to talk to an attorney or financial planner about planned giving and feel free to contact us with questions.

Stock Gifts
By donating common stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other appreciated securities, donors may also receive tax benefits that include avoiding long-term capital gains tax and obtaining deductions for their annual income tax filing. In most cases, donors can maximize their contribution through gifts of stock by transferring these appreciated securities to the Alabama 4-H Foundation directly, rather than liquidating them first and donating the proceeds of that sale to the foundation. Before directing a transfer agent to transfer a stock gift to the foundation, contact the Alabama 4-H Foundation staff member by calling (334) 844-5536 or email [email protected] to learn how best to expedite your donation.
Gifts-In-Kind
Gifts-in-kind are tangible assets that might include single or collective works of art, vehicles; and equipment. Gifts-in-kind may be sold (with the proceeds of the sale distributed to the 4-H Foundation for purposes designated by the donor) or retained by the foundation to use in a manner benefiting its mission. Contact the Alabama 4-H Foundation staff member by calling (334) 844-5536 or email [email protected] to request someone call you about making a gift or to answer any questions you might have.
Estate Planning
Donors can provide support for Alabama 4-H at the time of their death through a number of estate planning vehicles that, in addition to many of the opportunities outlined on this page, include retirement plan assets, charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities, and partnership interests. Some planned giving options include opportunities for the donor to receive return income or other financial benefits during his or her lifetime in return for the contribution, as well as immediate tax-deductible benefits without the penalty of capital gains taxes on the transfer. To learn more about gift planning, call (334) 750-7087 or email [email protected]
Real Estate Gifts
Gifts of donated property — primary and vacation homes, undeveloped land, commercial property, farms, and timberland — can be immediate or planned gifts. Donated property provides donors with tax benefits, while retained life estate donations provide donors with the added benefit of using the donated property during their lifetimes. Donations of real property may be either sold by the Alabama 4-H foundation (with the proceeds of the sale distributed to the foundations purpose as designated by the donor) or retained by the foundation to use in a manner benefiting its mission. Call (334) 844-5536 to learn more about donating property.
Endowed Gifts
Establish a permanent endowment with a minimum philanthropic investment of $10,000 – either as an outright gift paid over time or through a bequest from your estate. Once established, the endowment is held permanently and is managed and invested by the Alabama 4-H Foundation. Its principal continues to grow and produces income in perpetuity for a designated purpose. The Alabama 4-H Foundation will work with you to establish guidelines and qualification requirements for your endowment as well as the types of initiatives to which the funds can be applied. In addition, this funding provides the opportunity for an endowment to bear your name or to honor or memorialize someone of your choosing. To learn more about establishing an endowment, call (334) 750-7087 or email [email protected]
Memorial & Tribute Gifts
Commemorative gifts are a thoughtful way to honor or memorialize a loved one while supporting a cause you believe in. Your memorial gift can establish an endowment, fund a scholarship, or help fund local and state level 4-H projects. Make your memorial/tribute gift online or print the Memorial and Tribute Gift form and mail it in with your payment. You may also make your gift by calling the Alabama 4-H Foundation office (334) 844-5536.
